How Much Should I spend on Tires?

Tires are expensive, but they cost a lot more when you don't choose the right ones.

There are 3 tiers of tires.

Tier 3: Better known as budget tires are brands like, Zenna, RoadX, Douglas. These tires typically aren't as durable, and don't balance as well, but are a much cheaper option.

Tier 2: The Mid-Grade Tire. Brands like Firestone or General. These tires will have a better load rating, higher quality construction, but typically cost 3 times what a Tier 3 tire would.

Tier 1: The Best of the best. Brands like Michelin and Bridgestone are the standard, and will not only last the longest, they'll also be the strongest and most puncture resistant. The downside, they typically cost twice as much as a tier 2 tire.

So what should you get? Well Here's my opinion.

Tier 3

  • Junk Removal Trucks

  • Dumpster Truck/Dump Trucks/Trash Trucks

  • Construction Trucks

  • Landscaping Tucks

These companies are very rough on their vehicles and will most likely put a gash in the sidewall before they wear through the tread, so spending $600 on a tire doesn't make sense.

Tier 2

  • Regional Box Trucks

  • Step Vans

  • Last Mile Delivery Trucks

  • In-Town Distribution Trucks

These companies put significant load on their tires, but not crazy miles, so a tier 2 is perfect. They need the quality construction and tread pattern of a Firestone, but not quite the capacity of a Michelin.

Tier 1

  • Over the Road Trucks

  • Heavy Material/Equipment Haulers

  • Home Service Companies

These Companies put significantly more load on their truck/tires than other industries, so having a strong/long lasting tire is imperative to smooth operation. Home Service companies also cannot afford blow outs, since customers expect them during specific time frames.

Commercial Tires can cost anywhere from $150 Per Tire to $650 Per Tire. Call AutoButler and we'll help you pick the right one.
